Limited Availability

Sep. 7th, 2008 | 01:07 am

I have to say that 2008 has been the year of Limited Availability for me.

I can't think of another time in the last 11 years where I have been less available in all sorts of ways than now.

I haven't had a (Home/Cell) phone since May. I really haven't had (my own) an internet connection. I am physically 100 miles from most of the people whom I used to associate and hang out with.

Besides a handful of people (I'd have to say less than 20) no one really knows where I am and much less what I've been up to.

Most people haven't seen/heard from me for at least 3 to 10 months if not more.

My Limited Availability online is evidenced by not only lack of blog entires, but partically any site in which I have an account at.

For a brief time I had started experimenting with Soup via a site I entitled: Spill...

I also continued to try to update my tumblr with shared items from my Google Reader although now slow and unstable internet forced me back to usage of a desktop reader...

I had also been updating my Wordpress rather well with particular reviews of TV Shows and Films yet that too also fell through...

I attempted to re-kindle my affections with Twitter a little over a month ago but that ended rather quickly due to lack of internet connectivity and phone.

I even posted a rather long Utterz...

My Limited Availability physically is evidenced by myself seeming indisposed and averse to any sort of social outing, communication or otherwise--basically "…being uncommuncationable." Which is mostly based on the fact that I am not where I usually am.

I have thought my disappearance, my extended leave of absence; call it what you may, would wreak havoc upon all and any of my relationships be they close or slight...

Yet having been gone for so long I have come to realize that truly those whom know me, have come to know me, etc. have the knowledge that I do tend to 'disappear' and 'reappear' every now and again sometimes longer than other previous times...

My Limited Availability --this year, 2008 has been one of those years where I have done numerous disappearing and reappearing acts. Each longer than last.

Although each time I do reappear, as I am doing so now, I am apt to comment on my disappearance and sometimes...or eventually at some point come to detail my disappearance.

dmotion just has Limited Availability right now...

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin Dead pt 3

Oct. 5th, 2006 | 01:49 pm

In a sort of tribute to Steve Irwin's death in downtown San Francisco these

posters were wheatpasted to a wall.

I think if Steve Irwin were still alive and saw these he'd probably say, "Krikey!"

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin Dead pt 2

Sep. 28th, 2006 | 01:14 pm

In the aftermath of Steve Irwin's death there was much speculation about what was going to be done with the footage of his death.

I had noted previously that according to an article by Contact Music that: "Irwin's family are determined to respect his last wishes and allow the harrowing footage to be broadcast..."

A much more recent report says that Terri Irwin,

"...has not seen the film of her husband's deadly encounter with a stingray and that it will never be shown on television."

Asked why it would not be shown she poses the question, "What purpose would that serve?"

The article also reveals that, "Steve Irwin always felt he would die early but that it would be a car wreck, not an animal, that killed him..."

The Boondocks Comic Strip Over

Sep. 27th, 2006 | 10:45 am

A sad today for fans (like me) of The Boondocks Comic Strip as The Washington Post—Universal Press Syndicate said, "It's over for "The Boondocks" comic strip, at least for now."

The article says that Aaron McGruder, "has gone Hollywood..." and "...can't devote himself to the grind of a daily strip...and a film is reportedly in the works."

Some like "McGruder's editor at Universal, Greg Melvin, flew to Los Angeles recently and spent a couple of days trying to get the cartoonist to abide by the terms of his agreement to return in six months" from his "time to 'restore his creative juices.'"

Other are saying that he's "...pulling a Dave Chappelle here...Where, the 33-year-old comedian stunned his fans when he bolted last year from his Comedy Central show, ditching a $50 million deal and returning to a stand-up tour onstage."

The article is quick to point that other 'greats' also stepped down at the height of their 'game'.

Among them: "Garry Trudeau after 12 years penning "Doonesbury" and Bill Watterson after six years with "Calvin and Hobbes"; Gary Larson walked away from "The Far Side" for several years. When they returned, so did their readers."

Regardless many fans expected this when McGruder said he was taking a 'break' and having said that he was overwhelmed with both a Daily Comic Strip and the TV Show on [adult swim].

It's sad--but at least there's still the Show on [adult swim] but it's messed up that there's not going to be the comic strip anymore.

Fascism Coming To The U.S.--?

Sep. 16th, 2006 | 05:47 am

Fascism Coming To The U.S....

Sean Penn on a taped Larry King Live Interview on CNN said that, "Well, in 1932 Huey Long said something very interesting...Fascism will come to America, but likely under another name, perhaps anti-fascism.”

The concept is one that is very interesting indeed.

People giving up freedoms in order that there be no fascism, that is to say to help fight 'evils'; yet so that there be no thing similar to fascism when trying to fight these 'evils' certain freedoms are surrendered that in turn by so doing actually are a step closer to fascism.

"Well, why would you think that...," you may ask.

James Madison proves my point when he says, "If tyranny and opression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy."

Need I say anything more?

ABC Airs "The Path To 9/11"

Sep. 11th, 2006 | 01:03 am

What now all you haters?

So ABC aired "The Path To 9/11" in spite of of the Senate Democratic Leadership (cough) 'urging' to cancel it and even former President of the United States, Bill Clinton, siccing his lawyers on ABC.

So they aired it but yet, with disclaimers--that's better than not airing it at all.

Props to ABC for airing this thing.

Senate Democratic Leadership Urges Disney CEO To Cancel 9/11 Mini-Series

Sep. 8th, 2006 | 08:12 am

Wow,
I don't even know where to start with this one...

Okay, so there's this mini-series that ABC is going to air, on Sunday September 10th, a dramatization 'based' on "the 9/11 Commission Report, personal interviews and other materials."

The 'mini-series' is entitled: 'The Path to 9/11'

Anyways the 'Senate Democratic Leadership' is all up in arms about this 'mini-series' and it seems over one scene "depicting CIA operatives and Afghan fighters coming close to capturing Osama bin Laden in the 1990s, only for then-national security advisor Samuel Berger to refuse authorization of the mission--was a 'conflation of events'."

So what do they do?

They write a letter to Robert A. Iger, President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company and then the letter is signed by Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, Assistant Democratic Leader Dick Durbin, and Senators Debbie Stabenow, Charles Schumer, and Byron Dorgan.

So what does the letter say and what do they 'urge' that Robert A. Iger do?

Well, to begin the whole letter is equivocated--the whole thing.

They're not 'urging' they are threatening Robert A. Iger.

"The Communications Act of 1934 provides your network with a free broadcast license predicated on the fundamental understanding of your principle obligation to act as a trustee of the public airwaves in serving the public interest."

You know what that means?

That means if you don't do what we ask you to, your license will be revoked. Plain and simple. They're just equivocating the whole thing.

"Frankly, that ABC and Disney would consider airing a program...the United States Congress will be deeply damaged."

Yeah there's more stuff in between the "..." which says that if they do they'll discredit themselves--ruin and smear all that those things that people prior to them established--it's a bunch of crap.

Once again, they're just equivocating the whole thing.

What they're really saying is it'll damage Congress...in essence they're telling Robert A. Iger, "...um, you're company is...well, they're breaking the law--you're committing treason, you're damaging Congress..."

"We urge you, after full consideration of the facts, to uphold your responsibilities as a respected member of American society and as a beneficiary of the free use of the public airwaves to cancel this factually inaccurate and deeply misguided program. We look forward to hearing back from you soon."

You know what that says?

After seeing that you're in operation due to us--we're the ones whom give you the license to use the airwaves if you don't cancel this 'program' be sure that we'll revoke your license. If you don't get back to us we'll raise all whole lot of commotion over this and you'll lose everything.

The last time I checked there was something called Freedom of the Press and Freedom of Speech.

The letter cites The Communications Act of 1934 which "on January 3, 1996, the 104th Congress of the United States amended or repealed sections of the Communications Act of 1934 with the new Telecommunications Act of 1996."

The section which is refered to in the letter is:

SEC. 336. [47 U.S.C. 336]
(d) PUBLIC INTEREST REQUIREMENT.--Nothing in this section shall be
construed as relieving a television broadcasting station from its obligation to serve the public interest, convenience, and necessity. In the Commission's review of any application for renewal of a broadcast license for a television station that provides ancillary or supplementary services, the television licensee shall establish that all of its program services on the existing or advanced television spectrum are in the public interest. Any violation of the Commission rules applicable to ancillary or supplementary services shall reflect upon the licensee's qualifications for renewal of its license.

So what?

They're taking it out of context.

First of all they're trying to use this section to threaten to 'cancel' the 'program'.

When they're taking out of context.

Which is exactly what the MPAA and the RIAA do all the time with the DMCA.

Except that this is the Government--this is the Senate of the United States of America and not some trade organization(s) funded by movie and record studios posing as a government entity.

They're saying, "That Disney would seek to broadcast an admittedly and proven false recounting of the events of 9/11 raises serious questions about the motivations of its creators and those who approved the deeply flawed program."

First of all it's a mini-series--it based on not, "this is verbatim"--not a documentary.

Second they must define what is meant by the term "public interest" which is used repeatedly in the letter to Robert A. Iger.

What is public interest in the way which is presented here--well, it's presented here as their interest.

Whose?

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, Assistant Democratic Leader Dick Durbin, and Senators Debbie Stabenow, Charles Schumer, and Byron Dorgan interest that is--which is not 'public interest' but the opinion of the five individuals in this letter.

Certainly this 'grave cause of alarm' which they seem to say there is due to this 'program' or that there will be, is pathetic--there is something that is called Historical Fiction.

They are worried the broadcast of this 'mini-series' and it's use by Scholastic will seem to make America unsafe.

"Furthermore, that Disney would seek to use Scholastic to promote this misguided programming to American children as a substitute for factual information is a disgrace.

As 9/11 Commission member Jamie Gorelick said, 'It is critically important to the safety of our nation that our citizens, and particularly our school children, understand what actually happened and why – so that we can proceed from a common understanding of what went wrong and act with unity to make our country safer'."

Um, seriously it's not like they're going to drop every single history text book in every school in America and going to use this as a sole teaching tool in regards to 9/11.

However the way they're making it to come out is some dire crisis that if not stopped will poison the minds of Americans.

It's ludicrous.

They're trying to surpress something that is protected by Free Speech and Freedom of the Press.

Just because they disagree with some statements and the veracity of this or that is not enough to say or even valid to say that such things are not in the public interest or that they are in violation of SEC. 336. [47 U.S.C. 336] (d) because they are not.

They accuse of them of making "right-wing political propaganda" but propaganda is propaganda and it is certainly not illegal--if anything they too are advancing their agenda and using their 'political' status as a type of propaganda that other types of propaganda be surpressed.

It's ridiculous.

Robert A. Iger don't cave--their just bullying you in a equivocated way.

Broadcast the 'mini-series' as is.

Anderson Cooper and His CIA 'Ties'

Sep. 6th, 2006 | 06:15 pm

Who knew?

"...Cooper spent his summers interning at the agency's monolithic headquarters in Langley, Virginia, in a program for students interested in intelligence work."

Heh, Cooper, Anderson Cooper--and that's exactly what Radar Magazine is trying to say about Anderson Cooper's past--007...

Footage of Steve Irwin's Death To Be Broadcast?

Sep. 5th, 2006 | 01:42 pm

Apparently, according to an article by Contact Music it appears that, "Irwin's family are determined to respect his last wishes and allow the harrowing footage to be broadcast..."

Steve Irwin's wishes are noted in the following:

"My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it's shaky or slightly out of focus, I don't give a rip. Even if a big old alligator is chewing me up I want to go down and go, 'Crikey!' just before I die. That would be the ultimate for me."

This was told to British newspaper the Daily Star by an 'insider'.

Well, if Steve wanted it to be shown--better if it is shown how it was meant to be shown than for it to be 'leaked' and it be seen in a light not meant to be seen.

Cowboy Bebop Session Found

Jul. 12th, 2006 | 04:58 am

Ha. I found the 'Session' of Cowboy Bebop that I saw this one time on adult swim in the wee hours of the morning (http://dmotion1.livejournal.com/2170.html).

It's Session 26: The Real Folk Blues (Part 2) where:

Spike and Julia pick up where they left off in their plans to escape Red Dragon, enlisting Annie's help—only to find that Vicious's goons have gotten there already. After laying Annie to rest, they fight their way out, but Julia is shot and killed. Spike returns to the Bebop for one last meal with his family, and then storms Red Dragon's headquarters; with a bit of assistance from Shin, he makes it to the top floor, where he and Vicious confront each other for a final time. Spike and Vicious duel and Vicious is killed. Spike stumbles out of Vicious's chamber, clutching his side and bleeding profusely, and begins to descend a long staircase as several gangsters stare in awe and a bright light fills the room. Spike then raises his right hand, positioning his fingers to resemble a gun, says "bang" and collapses. Then the credits begin to roll with the stars as a background. Nearing the end of the credits a shooting star passes across the screen symbolizing that a warrior has lost his life.

Kyle XY

Jul. 11th, 2006 | 06:57 pm

I've been watching Kyle XY on ABC Family--it's the first show in a long time that I actually have 'raced' to watch on Monday night at 8PM. The reason is it's story line and it's plot. It's acting is well--it's not as good as it should be but it's decent. It has it's scenes and thensome. Very interesting spin--especially the whole no belly button ordeal--similar to the premise of John Doe but was created before John Doe. Really entertaining to watch.

Speed Racer

Jul. 10th, 2006 | 05:18 am

Aha, The Wachowski Brothers have now stated alongside Joel Silver that they might write and even direct a live-action Speed Racer Movie. I can't think of anyone else who could 'take on' the 'daunting' task of taking the Mach 5 into 'bullet time', heh. So most likely they will start production in 2008 or something and the movie coming out in 2008. IMDB has info on the project but you got to have the pro account. The script isn't written yet and if anything the Wachowski will feel more comfortable shooting something they've written. I'm waiting for it.

World Cup

Jul. 9th, 2006 | 10:48 pm

Italy won the World Cup--yeah it's like so many hours after the fact but hey--some people won't know for a couple of days. It's messed up that they won by penalty--it's always not good when it comes down to penalty shots--they're almost based on chance and not skill--sometimes. Regardless it's great. Italy won.
